Sent from my iPhone- A rant

Why do people feel the need to alert everyone that they have an iPhone or a Blackberry? I may be alone on this one but I don't care weather you have a smart phone or not. The "call me on my iPhone" or "send it to my Blackberry" is just super annoying, and you can't forget the obligatory "sent from my iPhone/Blackberry" email signature.

I get that these devices are fun and do a lot of really cool stuff but you don't need to announce it all the time. Can't you just say "my phone"? I can infere that if you say "send me an email and I'll get it on my phone" that you have a smart phone. I'm sure this is just me being cranky but it gets on my nerves a bit. I don't go around saying "excuse me will you hand me my American Apparell sweatshirt?" or "let's take my Toyota car" you know? I get it, you have cool stuff, so do I. I'm not jealous, because I have one, but I got rid of that stupid signature. Just something to think about.

Major Laser! The future is now!

So I came across an interesting article that made me think my childhood dreams are coming true. As most boys, I always wanted a laser gun and I really didn't think it would happen anytime soon. Well, leave it to our giant defence budget to make my dreams come true. The Air Force and Boeing joined forces in the Laser Avenger project and made laser capable of shooting down unmanned aerial vehicles. Sure the thing is big and has to be hauled around on a trailer, it's still pretty cool. This is kind of the second gen of Boeing laser projects, the first being Airborne Laser that would potentially take missiles out in midair.

Obviously this isn't exactly what I was thinking as a kid, but it seem like a step closer to Buck Rogers.

Fantastic! Dr Who Marathons

I been so excited to be able to stream Dr Who episodes on netflix. I've been having my on Dr Who marathons and make for the best evenings, also the weather has been real shit lately so it's a pretty easy choice. I can't wait till they add season 4 and 5 though, for now they just have 1-3 up. I really wish the had Firefly up as well, but you cant have everything.

Since we're on the topic of the Doctor, how amazing would it be to have a Tardis? To be able to go pretty much whenever and wherever you want? You'd really need someone like the doctor though to show you round or at least have a Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe otherwise you'd probably see a load of nothing for the most part. Well here's to dreaming!

PS I'm jealous, I wont get to see this for a long while

Ding! In SPACE!

I came across this new webseries today called Fucked! In SPACE! The first episode went up today and there were some pretty great parts. I think it has alot of potential. I really like the roles of Crewmember (played by wheezy waiter), their robot 6-80 and Amelia Spaceheart. We'll see where they take it.

Lazy weekend

I had a nice lazy weekend. I spent Saturday morning trying to find a venue for a concert. I think it'll end up being at Gas Works park. The barn there is pretty big and should work but it'll be a bit cold.

I didn't go out Friday or Saturday night. It was nice not waking up with a hangover. I just watched Firefly and Dr Who. I should have been working on my research paper for health course but I guess I'll get started this week. I think I'll do it on genetically modified foods or on the effect the corn industry has had on our diet and wellness. I already did one on gm foods so probably on do it on "big corn."

I dreading work tomorrrow :( especially after such a peaceful weekend. Wish me luck

Imaginary Larry

I just rewatched Imaginary Larry by Riki Lindhome and I had forgotten how much I liked it. it's super funny, charming, a great premise and really comes through as heartfelt. It really makes sense of a lot of the Garfunkel and Oates songs. Malcolm Barrett does great in his role as Kenneth (he played Terrell in an episode of Sunny.) I love Kate and Riki's harmonies and lyrics. It truly deserves to be way more popular the it is, or at least half as popular as Dr. Horrible's sing-along blog. I think this is a great example of where online viseo is going.
